There are a lot of choices out on the market when it comes to beds and bedding. There are also many things to consider when deciding between twin beds, queen beds and king size beds. Queen size beds are the most popular choice when it comes to mattress size. That may be a fact that you were unaware of. The reason why is that most bedrooms are just big enough for a queen bed. But before you make that bed frame purchase you should consider the type of mattress that you will be purchasing.
There are different types of mattresses for queen size beds. You will have to determine whether or not you are interested in a firm mattress or one that is a pillow top. The difference is in how high the mattress actually sits on the bed frame. Another thing to consider is whether or not you want a memory foam mattress or a regular mattress.
Sheets and bedspreads for a queen are going to cost more than bedding for double beds or twin beds. That means that it is going to cost more for the mattress and box springs as well. This is an area where you do not want to be miserly. A cheap mattress will be uncomfortable and will wear out faster than a well made mattress. Most queen mattresses are going to run you anywhere from $300 to $600 or more depending on the type of mattress that you buy.
A good mattress will be an investment in your sleeping future. The mattress should be durable and be stain resistant. Many new brands offer allergen free materials to help those individuals who have bad allergies. This may factor into the cost of your new mattress set. You want to rest comfortably in the bedroom, not sneeze a hundred times because you are allergic to your new mattress.
Unlike older style queen size beds you are pretty limited in the color of your mattress. This should not be a problem though since your bedding will be what is layered upon your bed. If you live in an apartment, then a queen size bed is the optional choice as most apartment bedrooms are very limited on space. You still have plenty of options when it comes to your new bed. Try it out in the store and you will surely be pleased with the result.

If you have decided to purchase a new bed, then you may want to consider one of the platform beds on the market as a viable option. These comfortable beds are low to the ground and you will not have to worry about using a traditional, hard box spring along with your mattress. The beds come with some great bedroom furniture and you will not be disappointed by the quality of sleep that you will have when you rest at night. But if you are unfamiliar with the platform bed, then you are in luck. This is the article to turn to for advice.
Platform beds consist of mattresses that sit upon a solid wooden structure, such as hardwood or plywood. They can also be made of metal which is quite the modern look. A platform bed is usually very close to the ground which has its pros and cons. The pros are that you do not have to worry about climbing up onto a steep bed nor do you have to worry about rolling off the bed and falling from a great height. Another pro is that you will be sleeping on just your mattress.
The cons of using a platform bed are that it is pretty low to the ground and you will not have the storage capacity that most beds offer beneath. If you have trouble bending your knees or lowering yourself, then this is not the bed for you. One thing you should keep in mind is that a platform bed is not like the wooden or metal frames for futons. Those have spaces beneath the mattress, whereas the platform bed does not.
Many people compare the platform bed to that of air beds. It is true in one sense. You will not have the hard wooden box springs beneath your mattress. This may give you the support you need without worrying about pressure points coming from the slats beneath your mattress.
Bedroom collections that offer platform beds are becoming the “in” style of the bedding world. Go ahead and splurge and buy the entire collection. Your bedroom will thank you when it becomes stylish and comfortable. If you are interested in having a platform bed and want to purchase one online, then you can visit www.platformbeds.com for more information. Get the style that you want in your bedroom.

Have you ever stayed in a deluxe room at a hotel? The king size beds found in those luxurious rooms can be enough to make anyone weep when they have to go home to their queen or double bed. The size does make all the difference and do not let anyone tell you different. No bedroom suite is complete without a king size bed to accommodate you, no matter how you sleep. The inn bed has ruined you and now you are looking into buying a king size bed for your own bedroom. But first there are some things to consider before making that purchase.
Yes, you have had a wonderful stay at the hotel and now you want a king size bed at home. But you have to realize a few things right off the bat. Do you have room for a king size bed or is a queen bed the only thing that will fit into your bedroom. Some people would rather have king size beds than space so this choice is entirely up to you. Others do not have a situation in the bedroom where there is an excessive amount of space so you have to think through this choice carefully.
The beds headboards are going to be much larger than what you would typically find on queen beds. It may mean up to a foot of difference on each side depending on the style of headboard that you choose. The footboard will be the same way. You will be giving up precious bedroom space. You could go with just a headboard and leave the footboard off to conserve space and allow you additional freedom at the end of the bed. This is especially great for very tall people who have to worry about their feet hanging off the bed. You should also consider that bedding will be more expensive for a king size bed than for a traditional full or queen mattress.
If your master bedroom is big enough to accommodate king size beds then by all means go for it. You will have that deluxe feeling that you got when you stayed at that luxurious hotel. You will absolutely love the space. The moment is set up you will want to roll across the bed luxuriating in the feeling of not being crowded while you sleep. That in itself is worth giving up any extra space that you may lose by switching to a king size bed.

There comes a time in every parent’s life where they must consider updating their kids furniture from that of a toddler bed to something older and more in line with their age.
Daybeds can bridge this gap for many young girls. It is an excellent way to change the bedroom collections of girl’s bedrooms and give them something beautiful they can have as the centerpiece to their room. A daybed can also serve as a guest bed in a spare room but more on that later.
Daybeds are similar to futons in that they both resemble a couch or a loveseat. The back to the daybed is along the side rather than the traditional bed having the headboard and footboard. You can find a daybed in a variety of materials ranging from metal to wood. The metal daybed is not as sturdy as the wooden daybed so you may want to keep this in mind if your daughter is young and into climbing.
As far as kids furniture goes the daybed can also serve as a full size bed if you have the trundle bed that is stored below. The trundle bed will wheel out and accommodate extra friends if your daughter is having a sleep-over. If you are using the daybed as a spare bed for guests, this can be beneficial as most adults would choose not to sleep on twin beds if they can help it.
The daybed will typically come unassembled, which means that you will be spending some time assembling the bed. If you follow the instructions you should be able to put the bed together in a few hours. They are really not that hard to assemble and are worth the effort when you see your daughter’s face as she climbs onto the bed for the first time. Just make sure that the bed is sturdy before you let her climb all over it. That means no extra parts left over. All parts are included for a reason.
Making the transition from toddler beds over to daybeds can be quite exciting. Your daughter will love getting to look at different bedroom collections that are specifically for young girls. She will love updating her room into a style that is completely her own. You can rest easier at night knowing she is lying in a bed that is not too short for her or one that is uncomfortable.

If you are thinking about refreshing the decor of your bedroom collections, then it may be time to think about switching the type of bed you sleep on. A canopy bed can bring about a touch of romance and whimsy to any bedroom. Think of a delightful little girl’s bedroom and imagine it with sheer, hanging pink sheets of gauzy material. Or you can imagine a canopy bed in the master bedroom with rich, velvety fabrics cascading down around the mattress and onto the floor. Canopy beds can be whatever you want to make of them and interestingly enough, they have a long history.
The first canopy beds were used mainly by peasants and the working class back in medieval times. They were used as a way to protect the sleeper. You can imagine that the roofs were not as great as what they are now. Later down the road the canopy bed was used as a means of protection from the elements and as a way to give the sleeper more privacy. At this point the aristocrats starting using the canopy bed because more often than not the servants would be sleeping in the same room with them in case the aristocrat needed an attendant during the night.
Today, a canopy bed can be found in queen beds or even in twin beds. They are more ornamental than what was used in medieval Europe. You can find a canopy bed in a wide assortment of styles but one constant has remained the same. That constant is the use of a four poster beds with fabric that can be tied to the side or left hanging down. You can find a canopy bed in many different styles. Iron beds are becoming very popular because they are less expensive than the wooden ones.
If you intend to renovate your bedroom, then think about the entire bedroom suite. Pick out bedding and draperies that will enhance the appearance of the canopy bed. You want to showcase that lovely work of art and canopy beds can be just that: a work of art. Splurge on yourself and treat yourself to a feeling like that of royalty in the bedroom. You will be upholding a long tradition that has nothing to do with an ill constructed roof. You will be sleeping in style in no time at all.

Adjustable beds were once solely found as hospital beds in nursing homes, home health care situations and in hospitals. The need for these beds was apparent, as they allowed patients to get into and out of the bed easier. They could also lower and raise the head and foot of the bed depending on what position they wanted to be in. This was a plus, yet the huge minus was the cold, plastic covered mattress that made any night a long one. No matter how much bedding was used, the backside still felt cold and uncomfortable.
Adjustable beds are becoming very popular with people of all ages. They love the new styles that have been introduced. But there are health reasons for having an adjustable bed at home. Many people suffer from acid reflux and find that they cannot sleep flat on their backs. By elevating the bed’s head they are able to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
The beds mattresses have changed as well. They do not have the plastic coating that hospital beds have. They are comfortable beds and the mattresses function well with any bedroom collections. This means that you get a better night of sleep no matter what position you want the adjustable bed to be in. But there are still some downsides to purchasing an adjustable bed.
Queen beds are the most popular size of bed; however, you may be hard pressed to find a queen size bed that is also adjustable. They can be found but you are going to be dishing out quite a large amount of money. Twin beds are often the most common size. You can push two twin beds together and create a large sleeping surface that can easily accommodate two people. Each person can adjust the bed to their preferred sleeping position. If you prefer your mattress flat against the railings, then you can do so while your sleeping partner can have his or hers in a completely different position. The downside is that there will still be a gap between the two beds. So, factor in the size of the beds and the gap between if you decide to purchase twin adjustable beds.
If you suffer from acid reflux, then you may want to give adjustable beds a chance. Sure they are normally found as twin beds but you can overcome this as mentioned above. The styles will have you amazed at how much they differ from the standard issue, adjustable hospital beds. The new mattresses will have you convinced to make the switch from a traditional bed to that of an adjustable one.

Everyone has heard jokes about sticking someone on
a sofa bed, yet the reality is that it is not a joking matter. Sofa beds of the past were not what you would call a comfortable bed.
Comfortable beds make you want to stretch out upon them. The mattresses on these old style sofas were thin and did not protect you from the railings beneath. They were racks of torture.
The sofa bed of today is a miracle compared with its late model cousin. They far eclipse the traditional futons and these new sofa beds are in high fashion. You can find them in a variety of colors, designs, shapes and fabrics. One of the greatest feats is that you can get the fold out bed in a full size couch or in an oversized chair that pulls out to a twin bed. The mattresses are quite thick and protect you very well against the rails.
One of the greatest inventions of late is the oversize chair. Many oversized chairs now fold out into twin beds. The outside of the bed is very comfortable and can accommodate up to two people, yet the oversize chair is actually meant to be a single seating situation. Instead of a full sized sofa, many people are opting to purchase two of these chairs to accommodate their overnight guests. What is unique is that when guests come over they are treated to a great night’s sleep on twin beds that have thick mattresses and are actually very comfortable.
The added bonus of an oversize sleeper chair is that it does not take up as much room as a full sized sleeper sofa. It is also easier to move than the traditional full size sleeper sofa and can stand up to more weight in the center of the mattress. It has much more support and with its beautifully plush exterior it is a bonus to have in any living room, guest room or den.
The days of the sofa bed being uncomfortable are at an end. It is time for a new era of “guest bed” to enter the scene. You no longer must have a guest room because your living room furniture or den furniture can serve double duty as comfortable sleeping arrangements for guests. This is a big boon to those that do not have the extra room to devote solely to guests. Forget those old torture racks that were once used as guest beds. It is time to update that old worn out sleeper bed.

Getting a good night of sleep is important. It allows for a productive day and without it a person can become restless and filled with anxiety. That is why it is important to have
the right bed for your particular body. Each person’s body is different. Some like their beds firm while others prefer a softer bed. If you are going to find the right bed for your body, then it means testing them out while you are at the store that sells bedroom furniture.
The search for the right beds mattresses will be a breeze, yet you should steer clear of futons because they will not give you the support that you require. More traditional beds will give you the back and hip support that you need in order to have relaxing sleep. Once you have decided on the size of bed you want, then perhaps you should take the time to look at some of the new bedroom collections at your local store or online.
Try to keep your room furniture all in one design. This will help you when you are redecorating your room. The bed that you choose will be based on this furniture design. If your bedroom style has more of an Asian flare, then you may want to give a platform bed a shot. This bed frame is close to the ground and you can put your pillow top mattress directly on the bed, though many people still elect to use the box springs in addition to the pillow top mattress.
Once you have the right bed frame picked out for your master bedroom, it is time to look at the actual mattress itself. You may be interested in trying out a memory foam mattress. This type forms to your exact body shape and is designed to minimize the pressure points on the body. Or you may want to give the traditional pillow top mattress a try. The decision on the firmness and/or softness of the mattress is entirely up to you. You are the one that will be sleeping on it.
When shopping for beds it is imperative that you try out the bed in the store first. Kick off those shoes and try lying down. Twist and turn to see if the bed feels comfortable. Do not be embarrassed about lying down in front of other shoppers. They should be doing the same thing! Good luck on finding your new bed!
